James Caan, one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, founder and CEO of Hamilton Bradshaw, a venture capital and investment company will discuss and support entrepreneurship during his keynote speech at Qatar Investor Window Conference on 21st November.
Entrepreneurship is a key element in Qatar’s economic diversification as it seeks to reduce its reliance on the Oil and Gas sector. In recent years Qatar’s SME sector has received key government support through the new entity; Enterprise Qatar. It has been created under the guidance of his Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, and his Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Heir Apparent, and initiated by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani in 2008 as the country’s champion of Small and Medium sized business entities (SMEs).
Caan’s speech will add further support and inspiration for SMEs in Qatar and the GCC. Having built a multimillion-pound global business empire, Caan dedicates a significant amount of his time working with entrepreneurs to help grow their businesses and advising Governments on how best to create a business environment for the SME sector.
One of Caan’s recent investments is 90 North Real Estate Partners, an independent investment advisory firm, specialising in Shari’ah compliant real estate investments. Its founding partners will be accompanying Caan to Qatar; 90 North is looking to attract local networks of financial institutions and intermediaries in supporting GCC real estate investors.
Caan commented: “I am really looking forward to my first visit to Qatar – one of the most dynamic countries in the world. I am particularly looking forward to supporting the economic growth agenda, entrepreneurs and meeting potential partners.”
